On Wednesday, April 29, Vodafone Americas Foundation opened the doors of its Redwood City office to the eight finalists for the 2015 Wireless Innovation Project. It was an exciting evening having all the talented finalists together celebrating their accomplishments thus far. The finalists networked with fellow innovators, comparing notes on common challenges and ways to integrate or connect their work.
Students from Santa Clara University’ Frugal Innovation Lab also joined the mix. These students work on developing appropriate, adaptable, affordable, and accessible technologies, products and solutions to address human needs in emerging markets. In was an undeniable blend for its director Radha R. Basu to introduce her students to WIP and this year’ finalists.
June Sugiyama, the director of the Vodafone Americas Foundation, then recognized each finalist for their success in the competition thus far and awarded them with trophies. The attendees also heard from Mobile 4 All, who is in partnership with Vodafone and whose mission is to provide cell phones to the homeless in communities.
As the announcement to this year’ WIP comes close, it was great bringing together everyone that made it to the finalist round. And in short time coming, we will know which of these eight finalists make it to the final prize!
